Release Notes: Analytics

October 7, 2019

Nowadays it seems like everything can be turned into a convenient and insightful chart. There’s something so satisfying about understanding how something fluctuates over time, because it gives you a sense of control. If you can understand it, you can act on it. That’s why all of us data nerds at Lumi were excited to build a tool that gives you more visibility into what’s going on with your packaging.

Analytics is a new view in Lumi that gives you quantifiable insights about your packaging supply chain.

The new Analytics view has three insightful and interactive reports that help you visualize your packaging by product, shipping location, and spending category. For each report, you can choose the timespan and aggregations (e.g. monthly, quarterly or yearly) that you want to study.

Orders by product

This view slices your order patterns by product category. You can break down your spending by volume (quantity of units) or by order count.

This report opens up new insights about your relative spending across products. With this you can easily answer questions like, “How many boxes did we order in Q3 of last year?”

Use this report to discover strong seasonal patterns, project your needs based on historical data, and isolate data on a single product or subset of products.

Shipments by location

Shipping analytics help you understand how units are being distributed across your locations. At a glance, you’ll have a better understanding of packaging consumption across your warehouses, 3PLs, or distribution centers over time.

Some of our customers ship from dozens of locations, and this view can offer a powerful snapshot into that complexity.

Invoices by spending category

While the Orders report is based on the time orders are created, the Invoice report is based on the time the invoices are paid.

This report segments your spending by line item type, helping you assess the relative spending on products, shipping, tooling, and more.

Analytics billing

This was a really fun update to work on. In the process of designing and building it, we came up with a ton of ideas for future analytics and insights we can add. What are some you would most like to see? Let us know, we're listening!
