About the role

As a Packaging Engineer at Lumi, you will work directly with our customers to develop packaging solutions for manufacturing. You will work closely with some of the world's leading e-commerce brands and get to see the inner workings of a rapidly-growing startup. This is a unique opportunity to manage all phases of packaging development, from ideation and conceptualization to scaled manufacturing.

What you'll do

  • Create and collaborate on innovative packaging solutions for some of the world's leading ecommerce brands
  • Work cross-functionally to build structural samples and printed prototypes utilizing our state of the art Lab
  • Develop and document product specifications based on structural designs and manufacturing methods
  • Translate our Members requirements and unboxing needs into functional designs and identify the best fit manufacturing partners for commercialization
  • Work with our Manufacturing Partners to document and understand equipment capabilities for the design efficiencies
  • Drive projects, maintain timelines and update appropriate systems
  • Collaborate with Lumi team to effectively allocate resources to complete projects timely and ensure we’re providing an excellent customer experience
  • Serve as an inhouse expert in structural engineering capabilities for customers and other team members
  • Attend customer meetings to provide engineering support and best practices
  • Provide technical expertise and manufacturing support for successful packaging development
  • Support prepress, mockup, print cards, and quoting documents when needed

About you

  • 5+ years Packaging Engineering & Development experience
  • BS/BA degree in Packaging Engineering/Technology/Science or equivalent with knowledge of packaging materials, material science, equipment, and manufacturing processes required
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience leading or working on a dynamic cross-functional team
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong portfolio of cutting edge packaging development and execution
  • Excellent skills in ideation, concept visualization, and form development
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing methods for a variety of packaging and materials
  • Familiarity with ISO, ISTA and ASTM standards is required
  • Experienced with using ArtiosCAD, CAPE/TOPS, and SolidWorks recommended
  • Experienced with using Adobe CS, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office required
